Vivienne Machi is a journalist based in Los Angeles. Since 2014, she has covered European defense programs, Capitol Hill and the Pentagon, and local government, crime, education, and food and dining in southwest Ohio. She has reported from Washington, D.C., Paris, London, Doha, Halifax, throughout Germany, and across the continental U.S.
Vivienne is a versatile reporter and has written breaking news stories on marijuana legalization issues in Ohio, the emergence of post-COVID delivery co-ops, features on commercial and military space investments, and concert reviews for Baltimore’s largest music festivals. Her byline appears in Business Insider, the Counter, Foreign Policy, Defense News, Via Satellite, PostIndustrial, the Baltimore Sun, the Dayton Daily News, and more.
In 2018, she won an award for best aviation story by the Defence Media Awards for her reporting on the Air Force’s new light attack aircraft experiment for National Defense Magazine. In 2020, she was named the best young defense journalist (under 35) by the Defence Media Awards association.
